Noelle visits Hong Kong to
talk about the story of Gulf of Bohai by the
young poet Xiao Shui. She will talk about the experience of translating
literature quotations and cultural codes in the poems in order to bring the
message to the western reader. She will also talk about the poetry style of
Xiao Shui.
是次活動乃翻譯者諾爾來港,暢談翻譯内地年輕詩人肖水渤海故事集,其中包括詩歌翻譯的心得;面對詩集大量文化典故、符碼時如何介紹、傳達給西方讀者,當然也會觸及肖水詩歌的風格特質。
Noelle Noéll (若爾諾爾)
Noelle Noéll is an educator,
poet and translator. She is a public speaker and professor of business
administration, and a moderator for the Taiwan Poetry Forum. Her poetry and
translation work are published in poetry journals in Taiwan, Singapore, and
Hong Kong. Noelle Noéll currently lives in Seattle, Washington.
Xiao Shui (肖水)
Xiao Shui was born
in 1980 in Chenzhou in Hunan Province, China. He graduated from Fudan
University, majoring in Chinese Literature. He has published four books
of poetry including Chinese Class (2012, Taiwan), Mugwort: New Quatrains Poetry
(2014), and Bohai Narrative Poetry (2016). Xiao Shui currently lives in
Shanghai.
