詩人 Poet:Vaughan Rapatahana
Poet Vaughan Rapatahana has lived for many years in a
variety of countries and now lives and works in Hong Kong. Vaughan has been
published as a poet throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand), Australia, Hong Kong,
Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand, U.K., France, India, U.S.A., Macau, PR
China and several other countries Rapatahana writes across a variety of genre
and has also had novel, short story, language critique, original philosophy
etcetera published.
He
was Poetry Editor for MAI Review Journal, a leading online academic
journal specializing in the work of indigenous writers until the end of 2011
and is a member of the New Zealand Poetry Society. Vaughan has a PhD in
Existential Literature and Philosophy from the University of Auckland. His
ancestry is Maori and he is affiliated to the Te Atiawa iwi (tribe). His
wife is from the Philippines and they are a multilingual household.
Already in 2014, Rapatahana has been chief editor of
the new Poetry Outloud Hong Kong anthology OutLoud Too published in
April; has recently completed a new novel entitled Novel, which now
rests with publishers; organized a follow up to English Language as Hydra to
be called Confronting the Hydra, which will be published by Multilingal
Matters, U.K. in April, 2015; co-edited a further poetry teaching
resource soon to be published in Aotearoa-New Zealand by Essential Resources,
Christchurch (Expand your mind with Poetry) and has a new collection of
poems – Atonement – to be published by ASM/Flying Islands Press (Macau)
later in the year. His obituary for the English writer Colin Wilson appears in
the current Philosophy Now and he is also the featured poet in this
months edition of a fine line.
He will read from his earlier poetry collections - Home Away
