Through observation and fine details, Jennifer Wong explores and exposes the wonders of everyday life. From childhood memories, fairy tales, deep-rooted faiths to translated truths, Jennifer Wong’s dream-like and surreal collection reveals the changing landscapes of Hong Kong: from voodoo doll practices, fengshui beliefs, the  popular dishes in Chinese cuisine, classical poems remembered and lost in translation, to the breathtaking scenes of skyscraper swords.

“This collection establishes Jennifer Wong as Hong Kong’s finest English language poet of the younger generation without a shadow of doubt. “– Mike Ingham

Jennifer Wong was born and raised in Hong Kong. She is the author of two poetry collections, including Goldfish (Chameleon Press 2013) and Summer Cicadas (2006). Her poems have appeared in various journals worldwide. She was the writer-in-residence at Lingnan University in 2012. She studied English at Oxford and completed an MA in creative writing at the University of East Anglia. She is currently working on a PhD in poetry and poetics at Oxford Brookes University, with a focus on the idea of homeland and ethnic identity in contemporary Chinese American poetry.
